2004 was an early and fast vintage year. Bud break was early, and a moderate spring kept the plants growing with a moderate crop load set. Summer temperatures were typically warm but without extreme heat. By mid-August fruit was ripening well, and harvest started early for our Stone Creek 2004 White Zinfandel. Fortunately we picked early, retaining the grapes' natural acidity, as a heat wave arrived in the fall.

Tasting Notes

Justin Weibel notes, "Off-dry to medium sweet wild strawberry, raspberry, and peach impressions balanced by a little zip of sweet lemon. Tart cherry fruit on the finish keeps the wine lively, making for easy sipping."

Pairing Suggestions

Stone Creek 2004 White Zinfandel is the perfect "front porch" wine when served well chilled. It goes wonderfully with spicy barbecue, cold pasta salads with vinaigrette dressings, or a spinach salad with Mandarin oranges, red onions, and lime dressing. Drink now through 2006.
