Stone Creek 2004 Chardonnay, Mendocino CountyHarvest Notes
2004 was an early and fast vintage year. Bud break was early, and a moderate spring kept the plants growing with a moderate crop load set. Summer temperatures were typically warm but without extreme heat. By mid-August fruit was ripening well, and harvest started relatively early for our Stone Creek 2004 Chardonnay. The early harvest retained the grapes' natural acidity, as a heat wave arrived in the fall. Tasting NotesOur Stone Creek 2004 Chardonnay, Mendocino County, which was fermented and aged without using oak to preserve the delicate fruit character, has delicate impressions of pineapple, peach, and apricot in the aroma, and nuances of pear, ripe apple, sweet lemon, and a hint of vanilla and sweet spice flavors. Drink now through 2007. Pairing SuggestionsThe 2004 Chardonnay would be lovely with a cold antipasti platter, poached salmon with a creamy dill sauce, or a picnic with herb-encrusted chicken.
