Stone Creek 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon, Central CoastHarvest Notes
In 2003, the weather was above-average warm throughout July and August, reducing yields somewhat. Picking started late and went long – perfect harvest conditions. Dry weather persisted throughout the harvest yielding clean, high-quality fruit with excellent color and good flavors in the fermenters. Harvest produced classic Californian cabernet sauvignon grapes filled with flavor. Central Coast encompasses the growing region from San Francisco south to Santa Barbara, and is heavily influenced by Pacific Ocean maritime weather patterns. The cool growing season promotes the dark fruit flavors in cabernet sauvignon grapes much like that grown in our estate H&W Vineyard in Mendocino County. Tasting NotesJustin Weibel notes, "Our Stone Creek 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon, Central Coast, has classic flavors of blackberry, dark cherry, dark chocolate, and a hint of fresh green herbs on the finish. It is very smooth in texture. Drink now through 2008." Pairing SuggestionsThe wine will pair well with dishes such as meatloaf, a charcuterie plate of sausages and smoked meats, roast duck, or grilled Portobello mushrooms.
