Stone Creek 2003 Chardonnay typifies the vintage. The weather was above-average warm throughout July and August, reducing yields somewhat. Dry conditions persisted throughout the harvest yielding clean, high-quality fruit with excellent color and good flavors in the fermenters.

Tasting Notes

Justin Weibel notes, "The wine is exciting for its controlled balance. The zesty, mouth-watering citrus fruit character is balanced by ripe pineapple and Golden Delicious apple impressions, with nuances in the finish of vanilla and sweet spices that comes from aging in oak barrels."

Pairing Suggestions

Stone Creek 2003 Chardonnay matches beautifully with delicate fish, chicken recipes emphasizing savory, fresh herbs, and fruit-glazed pork. It also is a great choice for before-dinner aperitifs or a weekend afternoon break with a tray of Emmenthaler, Morbier, and fresh goat's milk cheeses. Drink now through 2006.
